  A Textbook of Biology - XI, strictly based on the curriculum developed by

Curriculum Development Center (CDC), Ministry of Education, Science and

Technology, Government of Nepal, is prepared exclusively for the students of

Grade XI who follow the science stream. The authors’ expertise gained (through,

continuous teaching and learning for a long period of time and personal

suggestions from many colleagues and senior experts have made it possible to

conceive and develop the concept of the book in the present form.


The book consists of ten chapters; five each of Botany and Zoology respectively.

It exclusively covers the scope of the content specified in the curriculum,

Attempts have been made to keep the language of the book simple and lucid,

appropriate to the level of the students, with updated and accurate information

so as to enable the students to comprehend the subject matter easily, The

simple, relevant, well-labeled, attractive, and self-explanatory illustrations shall

make the subject matter more interesting and understandable with anticipation

to equip the students in achieving the learning outcomes laid down in the

curriculum. Likewise, the expressions and sentence structures have been made

direct and less ambiguous as far as possible,


Every possible effort has been made to compose the text with the help of

interesting figures, illustrations, elucidation, and simplification for its better

understanding and effective presentation. The book is expected to meet the

expectations of the students of Grade XI of the Biology group empowering their

thinking ability as well. In addition, it is also expected to support preparing

further entrance examinations as the book have highlighted varieties of key

questions for practice including multiple-choice questions at the end of each

chapter.


In spite of our best efforts, there might be certain printing errors left in the book.


We will feel honored to receive constructive criticisms and suggestions from

readers for the improvement of the book in its further edition.
